Music, Teaching, Learning Philosophy

Music is defined as “an art of sound in time that expresses ideas and emotions in significant forms through the elements of rhythm, melody, harmony, and color,” as defined by dictionary.com. Education is defined as “the act or process of imparting or acquiring general knowledge, developing the powers of reasoning and judgment, and generally of preparing oneself or others intellectually for mature life,” as defined by Dictionary.com as well. Music education is a very important factor in my life and I believe in it fully.

I believe that everyone and anyone should learn some knowledge about music because the type of learning it takes to hear and listen to it is different than that of math or English. Music gives you an artistic creative mind and gives you a different view on things, which is good to keep the mind creative. I also believe that music is not being learned enough in our schools to our children. You can even argue that back in the 1800’s and even into the 1900’s every person knew something that of music whether they played an instrument or they listened to it live in their home or on the street. There are millions and millions of different instruments and different styles of music that any one person can find that one instrument that they find interest or passion in playing or just learning and listening with.
